Backward Flag Brewing is a Veteran Owned Company. Our founder served 13 years in the military, including two tours in Iraq. Most of our staff has served in a uniform or is a family member of someone who wears one. We make every effort to support our brothers and sisters who serve our country and community. We encourage you to do the same.
Our 2-barrel brewery is located in a 2300 sq ft industrial space only a few miles from beautiful marinas and hiking trails. Our tasting room is a place where we encourage you to grab a pint or tasting flight and engage in conversation with your friends and craft beer family. No flat screens here.
We allow children in the tasting room as long as they are closely supervised and leave us some artwork on our floors – we’ll provide the chalk! We are dog friendly. Just be sure to keep them leashed and limited to the tasting room space only.
We do not serve food, but we do encourage you to bring your own or have it delivered from one of the great restaurants in the area.
Tours are required. It is the law. You can help yourself to a self-guided tour of the space or request a educational guided tour.
A final note. If you express any disrespect or contempt for our red, green or blue brothers and sisters in uniform we will be happy to show you the exit.
When we began planning the foundations of what the brewery would be we developed 3 goals for Backward Flag Brewing Company.
We will always strive to brew with the highest quality of ingredients and the greatest attention to detail that we can. Why use vanilla extract when you can use fresh vanilla beans? We care about our beer. It is our craft. We will always be proud to stand behind each small batch that flows from our taps to your glass.
We care about the people who make what we do possible. You. Together we build a community. We want our brewery to be a place where you can come connect and get to know each other. Because of where we come from we have a special place in our hearts for those who wear a uniform and sacrifice their time and lives while protecting and caring for our communities. We will occasionally have special batches of beer that will be used to raise donations for our military, police, firemen and other rescue personnel.
We believe that anyone can enjoy craft beer, whether you consider yourself a beer novice or a Master Cicerone. We also believe that everyone needs a place to start and we would like to be the place you come to. We want to be there to help you learn about the beer in your glass. If you have a question, ask us! We believe the more you know about beer the more you will love it and will want to go out and discover all of the other great craft breweries New Jersey has to offer…kind of goes back to that community thing…
